ELKIN, NC — As the stinging heat of summer passes and winter finally sets in, one local company is gearing up for the most important winter in its history. This winter marks the 75th heating season, Elkin based, G&B Oil Company, Inc has been in business.
G&B Oil Company, best known for its propane and heating oil division G&B Energy and convenience store division G&B Express has seen steady growth since it was founded in 1930.
G&B Oil’s President Jeff Eidson said, “My grandfather, E.C. Boyles founded G&B when he settled in Elkin 75 years ago. He founded this business based on high levels of customer service and to contribute to the well being of our community, that remains our focus today.”
The company’s G&B Energy division delivers propane, heating oil, kerosene and gasoline to a residential, commercial and agricultural customer base of 40,000 in a 21 county service area. Seven of the nine office locations have showrooms fully stocked with the latest gas fireplaces, grills, tank and tankless water heaters, gas lights and even woodstoves. The company’s service department will install and service the products they sell.
G&B Express, the company’s convenience store division, operates eight locations selling quality fuels and food to today’s motoring public. GB Express locations sell branded Exxon or Citgo fuels and three locations feature Subway Sub franchises. The company’s tanker division supplies over 20 independently owned convenience stores with gasoline and diesel fuels. GB Express stores operate in Yadkin, Forsyth, Surry and Caldwell counties of NC.
The company taht started out as a one man operation in the 1930s has now grown to a 16-store operation employing over 200 people. Eidson attributes the company’s growth to the dedication of employees and the diverse product lines offered.
“We have always looked for ways to go the extra mile and offer our customers products and services that can’t be found everywhere,” said Eidson.
