G&B Helps United Fund Raise 10 Percent of Their Goal at Annual Golf Tournament

Raised money in golf tournamentThe threat of afternoon showers didn’t stop golfers from participating in G&B Energy’s annual Irons in the Fire Charity Golf & Social benefiting the Yadkin Valley United Fund. The 23nd annual event, held Thursday September 10th at Cedarbrook Country Club, drew participation from 128 golfers and many local sponsors to raise $15,000 for the Yadkin Valley United Fund. This contribution puts the United Fund closer to reaching their $150,000 fundraising goal for the 2015 campaign.

The tantalizing aroma of smoke, grilling spices and fresh grilled meats filled the air over State Road as the grill masters from G&B Energy set up grilling stations throughout the golf course for this special event. Golfers and volunteers enjoyed slow smoked pork barbeque, shrimp, baby back ribs, hot dogs, chicken wings and roast beef. Once the last holes were played, the event was capped off with an awards ceremony announcing the winning teams. The ceremony included a raffle for prizes including; golf equipment and attire, grills and even cash. All golfers that registered for the tournament were automatically placed into the raffle.

G&B Energy’s President, Jeff Eidson, is thrilled by the local community support for this annual event. “For 23 years, we have been blessed with support from the employees of G&B Energy, volunteers, sponsors, suppliers and players. These folks are the backbone of our community, and they are the reason for the successes of the G&B Energy Irons in the Fire Golf & Social. I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to everyone involved for their hard work and giving spirit”, said Eidson.

The G&B Energy’s inaugural charity golf tournament was held in 1993 at Cedarbrook Country Club. To date, the tournament has generated over $407,000 in donations for charity.
