Golf Tournament Raises $20,000 for Charity [2012]
ELKIN, NC — The sight, aroma and taste of pulled pork barbecue, flat iron steak, barbeque ribs, chicken wings and shrimp were welcomed by over 120 golfers participating in G&B Energy’s Irons in the Fire, Golf and Social in partnership with Wells Fargo. The event, held Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Cedarbrook Country Club, raised $20,000 for the Yadkin Valley United Fund.
The tournament, under the Irons in the Fire banner puts a new spin on the company’s 20th annual charity golf tournament. The staff of G&B Energy set up grilling stations throughout the golf course and offered up fresh grilled delights to the hungry golfers and volunteers. After the tournament, an awards ceremony and raffle was held with golfers winning golf equipment, golf attire, grills and even cash.
“The volunteers, sponsors, suppliers, players and the employees of G&B and Cedarbrook were instrumental in making the 20th Annual G&B Irons in the Fire Golf and Social a fun-filled event. We started this tournament 20 years ago to give back to the community. The tournament has evolved over time but the giving spirit of our community continues to make this tournament a huge success for the United Fund. I would personally like to extend my deepest appreciation to everyone involved for their hard work and generosity,” said Jeff Eidson, president of G&B Energy.
The G&B Energy Charity Golf Classic’s inaugural tournament was held in 1993 at Cedarbrook Country Club. To date, the tournament has raised over $365,000 for charity.
