Sixteenth Annual Charity Golf Classic Raises $15,000 [2008]
ELKIN, NC — Sunny skies were a welcome sight for over 180 golfers participating in the 16th annual G&B Energy Charity Golf Classic. The event, held Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Cedarbrook Country Club, raised $15,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Yadkin Valley United Fund.
“The volunteers, sponsors, suppliers, players and the employees of G&B and Cedarbrook were instrumental in making the 20th Annual G&B Irons in the Fire Golf and Social a fun-filled event. We started this tournament 20 years ago to give back to the community. The tournament has evolved over time but the giving spirit of our community continues to make this tournament a huge success for the United Fund. I would personally like to extend my deepest appreciation to everyone involved for their hard work and generosity,” said Jeff Eidson, president of G&B Energy.
The G&B Energy Charity Golf Classic’s inaugural tournament was held in 1993 at Cedarbrook Country Club. Two hundred golfers partipated in the event that raised $15,000 for the MDA and the Yadkin Valley United Fund. To date, the tournament has raised $325,000 for the MDA and the YVUF.
